Creating a vibrant South Australia
South Australia boasts world-class creative industries.
We are internationally renowned as a premier destination for quality screen production, from blockbuster films and TV series to best-selling games.
Our capital city was recognised internationally as a UNESCO City of Music in 2015, acknowledging the breadth, depth and vibrancy of Adelaide’s music culture and placing us in a network of creative cities around the world.
We are also home to the iconic JamFactory, recognised across the world as a centre for excellence in craft and design.
South Australia’s opportunity
South Australia’s creative industries are a broad ecosystem of sub-sectors linked by their ability to use design-thinking, or creativity, to develop and produce unique, innovative and highly sought after intellectual property.
Our creative industries create jobs and exports, attract investment, drive innovation, entertain audiences, boost tourism, enhance our wellbeing, and showcase our unique culture to the world.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on all industries, but the creative industries were particularly impacted by lockdowns, social distancing restrictions and border closures.
To combat these impacts and return our creative industries to a position of growth, the South Australian Government introduced initiatives to help artists and creative businesses get back on their feet. We are continuing to strengthen our state’s creative and cultural reputation internationally in the screen, music and craft sectors.
